Trustpilot celebrates 20 million reviews
May 31, 2016 – New York – Denver – London – Melbourne – Copenhagen – Berlin – Review number 20 million was posted on Trustpilot this week, marking an important milestone in the exciting journey of the world’s largest online review community for shoppers.
With reviews in 30+ languages spanning more than 130,000 businesses in 119 countries, Trustpilot has rapidly expanded into a global review community that continues to help consumers navigate the online shopping landscape and engage with the companies they buy from.
From 20 to 20 million reviews
The first Trustpilot review was posted in August, 2007, when just a few hundred reviews trickled in every week. By 2014, consumers from across the globe were posting 400,000 new reviews each month, and there were 7 million reviews on Trustpilot. Today, more than 700,000 reviews of everything from financial institutions to high street fashion are posted monthly, with 6 million reviews written in 2015 alone.
“The marked rise in reviews reflects an ongoing trend when it comes to e-commerce. Consumers are sharing their opinions with other shoppers more than ever before, and businesses are listening: They gain valuable insights that they can use to deliver top-notch customer service. It’s a very positive cycle, and we don’t see any sign of it slowing down,” says Peter Holten Mühlmann, Founder and CEO of Trustpilot.
Building confidence through customer reviews
With every new review posted, Trustpilot’s goal remains the same: To improve shopping experiences for everyone. As more and more commerce moves online, millions of shoppers rely on reviews every day to help them make the best buying decisions.
For this reason, Trustpilot invests significantly in safeguarding its community, to make sure the next 20 million reviews continue to improve shopping experiences for business and consumers alike.
